1. 19 March 2024: The entry-level GT sports car the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 43 coupe has been launched with the inclusion of an electrified turbocharger that’s similar to Formula 1 technology.

Thankfully, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe new model doesn't share much in terms of external cosmetics with its sports car sibling. The snout is longer and it gets a huge, dominating AMG grille, flanked by swept-back headlamps. It also sports huge air ducts in the front bumper. The bonnet looks muscular with those strong lines on it. From the side, those massive haunches remind you of its sports car sibling and the sweeping roofline is typically from that of a coupe. The slender taillights and the rounded rear are from that of the sports car; also notice the retractable spoiler and the huge quad pipes.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe variants are as follows: Coupe 63 S. Features include an AMG performance steering wheel, AMG Dynamic Select, actively controlled exhaust system, multifunction telephony including wireless charging, active multi-contour seat package, 12.3-inch display setup for instrumentation and infotainment with MBUX system, touchpad, and air suspension. On the safety front, it is equipped with ABS, traction control, EBD and a host of other features.

Inside the cabin, it is typical Mercedes fare. The wide dashboard looks very radical and feels well put together. It also boasts of Merc's latest pair of 12.3-inch TFT screens. There's one ahead of the driver than can be set to display driving information with sporty dial graphics, and the other one is used for navigation and infotainment. Everything is easy and intuitive to use; there's also Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The rear occupants have a separate touchscreen and there's also a head-up display up-front. The levels of comfort are great and the finish of the upholstery is top-notch. From up-front, you have a good view of the road thanks to the higher seating. It is a tad short on headroom, but there is ample legroom at the rear. Boot space, at 456-litres, is pretty good. The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe on-road price then, considering all the goodies and the thrilling performance, seems just about right.

The GT 4-Door Coupe is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that produces 630bhp and 700Nm of torque with power being channeled to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Acceleration is very strong, and the surge of power is relentless. Refinement levels are good too. The ride quality is similar to that of the E 63 AMG: mellow yet a bit firm at times. And we absolutely love the sound from the exhausts. The steering weighs up well at high speeds, and it also feels very agile and poised around corners, thanks to the rear-wheel steering. There's loads of grip on offer too, making cornering a piece of cake. The car also features very strong brakes, and those who'd like to experiment on a track, the car also comes with modes like 'Race' and 'Drift'.
