Bharat Mobility Expo: Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flex Fuel Showcased, India Launch Likely By 2025

Bharat Mobility Expo: The inaugural Bharat Mobility Show is in full swing, with numerous models from several well-known automakers on display. One of the luxury car brands, Maruti Suzuki, has unveiled the Wagon R Flex Fuel. It debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo and is anticipated to run on our roads by 2025. In terms of appearance, the vehicle is essentially the same as the regular Wagon R, but it has some unique features like 'Flex-Fuel' decals. The fluorescent accents are also applied to the cabin. In India, the price range for the standard Wagon R ranges between Rs 5.54 lakh and Rs 7.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is anticipated that the Flex Fuel variant of the hatchback will fetch a marginally higher price than the base model when it is released onto the market. However, no official statement has been issued on this matter.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flex Fuel: Key Mechanical Highlights

The WagonR Flex Fuel is capable of running on any 20% (E20) to 85% (E85) ethanol and petroleum blend. Maruti Suzuki claims this version adheres to the government's clean and green policies. The vehicle will use a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine with 88.5bhp and 113Nm, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The engine has been modified to run smoothly on flex fuel. Ethanol sensors to measure the amount of ethanol in the fuel, injectors, a strong fuel pump, and heated fuel rails for cold start assistance are all part of the upgraded engine management system.

The carmaker claims that while maintaining the same power output, the new WagonR Flex Fuel would help cut tailpipe greenhouse gas emissions by 79% when compared to its petrol sibling.

In addition, Maruti Suzuki has demonstrated the eVX concept at the Bharat Mobility event, which is now taking place in New Delhi. In our market, the Maruti Suzuki eVX has been spotted going through several road tests on multiple occasions. It was first shown in public as a concept at the 2023 Auto Expo and later at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show as a near-production-ready version. The most recent spy images highlighted a traditional front grille and a more somber appearance than the concept version. Other notable design elements include sweptback headlamps, C-pillar placed rear door handles, gunmetal-coloured multispoke alloy wheels, blind-spot monitors, and a high-positioned stop lamp.
