1. 20 Sep 2024: Maruti Suzuki launches the Waltz limited edition of the Wagon R in India, priced at 5.65 Lakhs.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Exterior Details

The WagonR features a tallboy hatch design that has mostly remained the same over the years except for minor changes and facelifts. This year, Maruti Suzuki has given the WagonR two new dual-tone colour schemes. These are Gallant Red with a Black Roof and Magma Grey with a Black Roof. These are paired with blacked-out ORVMs and pillars for a floating roof effect. These colour schemes are, however, present only in the top-end ZXI+ variants. The WagonR also gets new blacked-out alloy wheels. Design features remain the same otherwise on the new WagonR ever since its last facelift. Dimensions of the 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR remain the same at 3655mm in length, 1620mm width, 1675mm height and a wheelbase of 2435mm.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Interior Details

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR's interior has been updated slightly as well. It now features a beige and dark grey dual-tone, paired with a new grey melange upholstery for the seats. The car continues with a 7-inch infotainment system with SmartPlay Studio and smartphone navigation. The 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR also gets cloud-based connected car features which are a new add on.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Engine & Transmission

The new WagonR gets better mileage now thanks to updated engine options. The Maruti Suzuki WagonR continues with two engine options, and in terms of fuel economy, the 1.0-litre engine offers 25.19kms per litre while the larger 1.2-litre engine offers 24.43kms per litre. The 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre blocks both get features such as variable valve timing, Dual Jet, cooled EGR and more, allowing the car to run more efficiently. The 1.0-litre engine in the WagonR is a new unit carried over from what does duties in the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and puts down 67PS at 5500rpm with 89Nm of torque at 3500rpm. This new unit also gets a CNG variant in the WagonR, now offered in both the entry-level LXI trim and the mid-spec VXI as well. The 1.2-litre block on the other hand also does duties in the Swift and the new Baleno and puts down 81PS at 6000rpm and 113Nm at 4400rpm. This block is offered in the new ZXI+ variant.  

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Features

The new 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR features include a few updates. Thanks to its updated engine unit, the 2022 WagonR now gets a hill-start assist function (AMT only). Due to compulsory norms, the WagonR gets dual airbags as standard. Other features in the 2022 WagonR include body coloured ORVMs and door handles, central locking with keyless entry, day/night IRVM and rear power windows. The 2022 WagonR also gets a few modern features such as a USB charging socket, Bluetooth connectivity and speed sensitive auto door locking. There has been an increased focus on safety features in the 2022 WagonR as well, with the new WagonR getting ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, speed alerts and seatbelt alert system. Idle start/stop is also a new feature in the updated 2022 WagonR.

The new updates to the WagonR make a car that was already focused on fuel efficiency, even better. The new colour schemes improve the visual appeal of the car. The top model now getting blacked out alloys adds to it further. The new WagonR is priced at ₹5.39 lakh (Ex-Showroom) and goes up to ₹ 7.10 lakh (Ex-Showroom).
