Maruti Suzuki eVX Spotted Testing Yet Again in India Ahead of Launch, Shows Two-spoke Steering Wheel Design
The brand-new Maruti Suzuki eVX will lock horns with several upcoming electric vehicles, such as the Hyundai Creta EV, the Honda Elevate EV, and the Mahindra BE.05 in India.
Maruti Suzuki's first electric model, the eVX, has been seen undergoing testing in India ahead of its official launch. The new test mule reveals a slew of features, including projector headlamps, modified front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels, LED taillights, rear door handles positioned on the C-pillar, and a shark fin antenna. The most recent spy photos of the EV offer a decent glimpse into the eVX's cabin, which stands out from the company's other models. The EV appears to include a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, an auto-dimming IRVM, a rotary dial for drive modes, and a new freestanding touchscreen infotainment system.
Although there is no word from the Indo-Japanese firm, market reports indicate that the eVX will go on sale sometime next year. For those unaware, the electric car made its debut as a concept at the 2023 Auto Expo and a production-ready model at the Tokyo Motor Show in the previous year.
Maruti Suzuki eVX: Mechanical Specifics
Maruti Suzuki is yet to reveal the mechanical specifications of its first all-electric vehicle. Market reports, however, indicate that the e-car will come with a choice between a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system and a single-motor FWD system. It is expected to offer 45kWh and 60kWh battery options, with a range of about 550 kilometres on a single charge. According to industry reports, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX will be built on Toyota's 27PL platform, based on the born-electric YY8 skateboard-style chassis.
Maruti Suzuki eVX: Features
Features-wise, the eVX is likely to have a panoramic sunroof, touch-based controls for the AC vents, adjustable power seats, a rotary drive mode selector, a multifunction steering wheel, a rearview mirror, a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, and horizontally positioned air conditioning vents. The electrified SUV is expected to be around 4,300mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,600mm in height and have a wheelbase of 2,700mm.
Maruti Suzuki eVX: Expected Price
The expected cost for the eVX in India ranges between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
