Maruti Suzuki India, one of the largest automakers in the country, has announced that it has sold 10 lakh units of the popular Ertiga MPV (multi-purpose vehicles), marking a noteworthy milestone. Notably, the firm achieved this sales mark in 12 years since it arrived on the domestic market back in April 2012. For the uninitiated, MPVs account for more than one-third of all multi-purpose vehicles sold in the country. Because of its reliable performance, the Ertiga has blazed a road in the mid-size MPV market and gained enormous appeal among Indian families. Not only that, the model has been incredibly popular outside of India as well, with exports to more than eighty nations.

Commenting on this impressive feat, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, "The modern appeal of the Ertiga has seen first-time customers for the MPV increase up to 41%, driven by a rise in younger urban customers. It's also worth noting that 66% of the Ertiga buyers consider it as a pre-determined choice, cementing its picture-perfect appeal as a lifestyle family vehicle. The stylish, versatile, and dependable Ertiga is a hit across the country in both urban and rural markets, with an impressive 37.5% segment market share."

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga: Powertrain Options

Maruti Suzuki's sales in the utility vehicle market have been increasing recently, and one of the products driving this growth is the Ertiga. The model, which received its last facelift in 2012, rounds out Maruti Suzuki's lineup in the three-row MPV class, together with the XL6 and the Invicto. Moreover, it has a bigger volume of sales because a CNG variant is also available on the market.

Speaking of the engine options, a 1.5-litre inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated (NA) petrol unit with smart hybrid technology, which puts out 136.8Nm of maximum torque and 101.5bhp of power, drives the MPV. On the other hand, while using the CNG option, it generates 121.5Nm of peak torque and 87bhp of maximum power. The mileage of the Ertiga with a six-speed automatic and five-speed manual transmission is 20.30km/l and 20.51km/l, respectively. However, the CNG version claims a fuel efficiency of 26.11km/kg.

The feature list of the car comprises impressive amenities such as a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Suzuki Connect with over 40 connected car functions, air-cooled cup holders, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, paddle shifters, an engine start/stop button, automatic headlamps, cruise control, halogen projector headlights, analogue instrument cluster with a MID, and AC vents for every row, among others.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga: Safety Suite

Regarding safety, the model comes equipped with dual airbags as standard on all versions, with four airbags available only on the ZXi+ model. The driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder, rear parking sensors, second-row ISOFIX child seat anchorages, speed alert system, hill hold assist, electronic stability programme (ESP), ABS with EBD, and brake assist are additional standard equipment that is present in all versions.
