2023 Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus SUV Spied Testing in India
The Bolero Neo SUV, which Mahindra launched in 2021, was a rebadged version of the TUV300, a model that had been discontinued. And now, the Indian auto manufacturer has been spotted testing the new Bolero Neo Plus, a 9-seater SUV on the Indian roads.
The Bolero Neo Plus, a longer version of the body-on-frame, sub-four metre Bolero Neo SUV, will soon be added by Mahindra to the Bolero line-up. The upcoming Bolero Neo SUV will primarily be a redesigned version of the tough TUV300 Plus, which was available on sale in India from 2018 to April 2020. Recently, an undisguised prototype model of the Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus with a nine-seater layout was spotted testing. Three years ago, the automaker introduced the Bolero Neo (a rebadged version of the discontinued Bolero Neo). Mahindra appears to be working on a nine-seater Bolero Neo Plus based on the discontinued TUV300 Plus. The most recent spy images reveal a closer view of the upcoming SUV's design.
It is expected that the Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus will share some of the Bolero Neo's design cues. In the spy shots, the SUV is seen with a sculpted front bumper, a toothy grille finished in chrome and long black shoulder cladding. The 15-inch alloy wheels on the Bolero Neo Plus will match those on the standard Bolero Neo. The Bolero Neo Plus does not appear to have blacked-out B- and C-pillars, unlike its counterpart which is shorter than four metres. The Plus's rear design would differ significantly from the Bolero Neo's, as it did with the TUV300 and TUV300 Plus. Modest rear bumper and taillight changes will be made to the Bolero Neo Plus. However, it will still have a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate with an 'X' cover. In terms of dimensions, the Bolero Neo will be 400mm longer than the Bolero, but it will have the same 2680mm-long wheelbase as its smaller sibling.

According to reports, there will be three variants and two seating options for the Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus. The first arrangement will be a seven-seater with bench seats in the second and third rows facing forward, while the second arrangement will be a nine-seater with rear seats facing sideways. Additionally, the Bolero Neo Plus is probably going to have more features than the Bolero Neo, which already comes equipped with cruise control, a touchscreen infotainment system, connectivity for the Blue sense app, and rear parking sensors, among other things. Expect the Bolero Neo Plus to include additional airbags as well.
Mechanically, the automaker is likely to continue using the same drivetrain as the Bolero Neo, so the Bolero Neo Plus will have a 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine churning out 100bhp of maximum power and 260Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. It won't have 4WD, and Mahindra is unlikely to give it an automatic transmission. It might, however, receive a mechanical locking differential like the Bolero Neo, which aids in slick conditions and poor traction.

The Bolero Neo Plus will undoubtedly be positioned above the Bolero Neo and comparable to the new Scorpio Classic, providing Mahindra's highly-popular SUV with a more effective replacement. The Bolero Neo Plus' price will probably be about Rs 1 lakh higher than the Bolero Neo's. As a point of comparison, the Bolero Neo costs between Rs 9.48 lakh and Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
