Auto Expo 2023: Lexus RX SUV Showcased in India; Here's What It Offers

Auto Expo 2023: At the Auto Expo 2023, Lexus India debuted the all-new RX, available in two versions: the RX500h F-Sport Performance and the RX350h Luxury Hybrid. Though pricing has not yet been announced, pre-orders are currently open in India. The new RX will sit between the NX and full-size LX SUVs in Lexus' lineup and is set to go on sale in March 2023, with deliveries starting in April. The RX features a unique spindle pattern front grille (found only on Lexus SUVs), large air dams, a sculpted hood, a sloping roofline, thin LED DRLs, and connected LED taillights.

The RX 350h Luxury Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine paired with a hybrid transaxle and a rear E-Four electric motor, producing 244bhp. It also features all-wheel drive, an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds. The RX350h will be available in eight exterior colour options, including Red Mica, Deep Blue, Sonic Quartz, and Sonic Titanium, with two exclusive interior colour choices of Solis White & Dark Sepia & Sumi Woodgrain and Medium Brown Bamboo Ornamentation. Buyers will also have the option to add Sonic Copper to any Lexus RX.

The RX500h F-Sport Performance variant of the car is the first hybrid electric vehicle from Lexus India, which combines a high torque 2.4-litre turbocharged engine with an e-Axle rear unit, producing 361bhp and 460Nm of torque. The performance model features a six-speed automatic transmission and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. The exterior of the RX500h F-Sport Performance gets a seamless grille, the F-Sport performance emblem, a body-colour front bumper, 21-inch ten-spoke alloy wheels with a matte black finish, black window moulding, and a piano black coloured mirror, among other features. The exterior colour options of the RX500h are White Nova Glass Flake and Heat Blue, and the interior gets a Dark Rose and Dark Spin Aluminum ornamentation colour scheme.

The 2023 Lexus RX also includes a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, ADAS, a digital rearview mirror, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. To enhance the interior's sustainability, the SUV's seats are upholstered in vegan synthetic leather.

Lexus India was tight-lipped about the prices of the model at the Expo 2023, but it is speculated that the model might come with an introductory price tag of Rs 1 Crore (ex-showroom) in India. After the launch, the Lexus RX SUV is most likely to compete with the Mercedes GLC, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, and Audi Q5.
