Kia India has launched its EV9 three-row electric SUV that debuted in India in a concept guise at the Auto Expo 2023. The EV9 is Kia's flagship electric SUV with an ARAI-certified range of 561km.

The Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD is equipped with two electric motors which generate 379bhp of maximum power and 700Nm of peak torque, whereas the base-spec model has a single motor, with rear-wheel drive (RWD), producing 201bhp.

The Kia EV9 is expected to launch at an ex-showroom price of around Rs 80 lakh, making it costlier than the EV6, which is the brand's only electric car currently available in India.

The Kia EV9 is based on the E-GMP (electric global modular platform), which also underpins the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6. Expect the company's second all-electric model to be priced over Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom, inclusive of import duties) in India.

The Kia EV9 GT will offer the electric SUV a performance boost. In conjunction with the European debut of the base model, the company said that the GT grade "is just around the corner."
