Kia EV5 Powertrain and Transmission

The EV5 is expected to come with two powertrain options; one with a 64.2kWh battery and another with an 88.1 kWh battery. Either of the variants should deliver a peak power and torque of 214bhp and 310 Nm. It should also be offered with a dual motor all-wheel-drive setup which should deliver an additional 93bhp and 170 Nm. Power shall be transferred to the wheels through a single-speed automatic transmission, standard for electric vehicles. This setup, built on the E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform), should provide both efficiency and dynamic performance.

Kia EV5 Driving Range

The range figures vary based on the variants such as smaller battery, bigger battery, and dual motor AWD variant. The driving range for the RWD EV5 variants is likely to be around 400-555 km. On the other hand, it could be 470-500 km for the AWD EV5 variants. A few variants are also said to go up to 665km on a single charge.

Kia EV5 Charging

The manufacturer shall provide AC and DC charging options. The 7 kW AC Charger shall take around 9-10 hours for a full charge. The 102-141 kW DC Charger shall do the same job in 36-38 minutes.

Kia EV5 Performance

The performance shall also vary based on the variant. While a few variants achieve a 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.1-6.3 seconds, the others do it in 8.5-8.9 seconds. The top speed of either of the variants should be around 185 km/h.

Kia EV5 Handling

The upcoming Kia EV5 is envisaged to have MacPherson struts at the front with a single lower arm type suspension. In the rear, it should have a multi-link independent suspension, enhancing handling and stability. The EV shall be equipped with 18-inch, 19-inch, and 20-inch alloy wheels based on the variant sporting 225mm, 235mm, and 255mm wide tyres, respectively. Braking performance must be ensured by ventilated front disc brakes and solid rear disc brakes.

Kia EV5 Dimensions

This Kia electric car is envisioned to have a length of 4615mm, a width of 1875mm, and a height of 1715mm. It shall have a wheelbase of 2750mm and a ground clearance of 161-175mm.

Kia EV5 Exterior

The available pictures suggest that this Kia EV flaunts a bold exterior design that blends functionality with a refined aesthetic. At the front and rear, the bumper and skid plate designs vary across trims. They range from standard matte plastic surrounds to gloss black finishes in higher variants. The side profile exhibits body-coloured side sill mouldings with wheel arch extensions and metal paint finish or body-coloured side door garnishes. The window surrounds are offered in either satin silver or gloss black beltlines, depending on the variant.

The roof racks and rear spoilers follow a similar treatment—matte plastic or gloss black with body-coloured integration on select models. Mirrors are body-coloured as standard, with perhaps, electric adjustment, heating, folding, and integrated side indicators. Distinctive lighting elements include LED headlamps, tail lamps, and daytime running lights across the range. Premium touches like manual- or auto-flush door handles, a height-adjustable smart power tailgate, and a panoramic sunroof enhance its appeal.

Kia EV5 Interior

The EV5 cabin shall feature a premium 4-spoke steering wheel or a sportier 3-spoke version with a heated function. A driver monitoring in-cabin camera shall be standard across all trims, promoting safety and awareness. It may also have a modern "shift-by-wire" column-type gear selector and steering wheel paddles for brake regeneration control. Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop and Go may also be included, enhancing driving ease. It might also incorporate a multi-function trip computer, digital clock, ambient temperature display, and power windows. All variants should also be equipped with LED interior lighting, front and rear USB Type-C chargers, and a 12V outlet. Ambient mood lighting with 64 color options and a wireless Qi phone charger can also be expected.

Kia EV5 Safety Features

The vehicle incorporates many safety features such as an anti-lock braking System, an electronic brake-force distribution, and a brake assist. It should also have electronic stability control, an electric parking brake, and a hill-start assist. This electric vehicle is also slated to boast ADAS features, among others, to provide enhanced safety.
