Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine and Other Specifications

Unlike the international-spec of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Indian iteration misses out on the V6, V8 and plug-in hybrid engines. In addition, it doesn’t get mild-hybrid technology either.

The Indian version of this flagship SUV uses an Alfa Romeo-sourced 2.0-litre GME I4-T turbocharged petrol engine that produces 268.27bhp at 5200 rpm and 400Nm of torque at 3000 rpm.

Only one variant is offered on this SUV with the 4x4 drivetrain. This SUV sends power to all wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

It has a fuel tank capacity of 87 litres.

As for the suspension setup, this SUV uses a multi-link independent (all aluminium arms and knuckles) at the front and rear. This suspension setup works in tandem with disc brakes. Speaking of disc brakes, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee runs on 20-inch alloy wheels. That said, it has a tyre profile of 266/50 R20.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Exterior

The fifth-generation Grand Cherokee’s exterior has an in-your-face design. This SUV has a similar design language to other Jeep cars, such as the Jeep Meridian and the upcoming Jeep Avenger. The upright front-fascia sports Jeep’s signature black-chrome grille with seven vertical slats flanked by LED headlights. On the front bumper, you’ll also notice reflectors placed on the extreme ends. Further, the lower section of the bumper has chrome inserts alongside the front LED fog lamps.

As far as the side profile goes, this flagship SUV has a chrome treatment around the windows which runs across the roof panel. Moreover, you’ll notice black cladding and the ‘Grand Cherokee’ badging on the body’s lower section. The sharp shoulder line on the side profile gives a long look to the car that also touches the extended narrow-LED-taillight.

Coming to the rear end, the Grand Cherokee has an integrated rear spoiler finished in piano black, which is positioned above the rear windshield. And if you look closely at the centre of the spoiler, you’ll notice a rear camera with a washer which projects the rear view on the IRVM, making the mirror a digital IRVM. It comes in handy when the rear windshield is obstructed by a person or luggage. Apart from that, the tailgate has several chrome treatments including model and variant badges, alongside a ‘Jeep’ badge in chrome flanked by LED taillights. The lower section of the rear bumper gets a chrome treatment as well, coupled with reflectors and Ultrasonic sensors.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Interior

The Grand Cherokee’s interior has a standard all-black theme which may not be of everyone’s liking as some buyers prefer a light-coloured interior. However, you can let more light enter the cabin through the electrically-adjustable panoramic sunroof. Therefore, the interior looks luxurious as it has Teak and Satin Chrome accents on several panels.

Besides that, this flagship SUV has a plethora of features. They include a digital instrument cluster with HUD(Heads-Up-Display), a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, paired with an Alpine-sourced premium audio system. It also gets a mobile connectivity feature. That lets the user access the vehicle’s data from a smartphone. It can show several readings, such as Geo-Fence alerts, current speed, live location, last parked, doors/windows status, lights status, engine status, and upcoming service(s), to name a few.

Other offerings include a wireless charger, Capri leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, a leather-wrapped gear-knob alongside a drive mode selector, auto HVAC, auto-headlights with high-beam assist, cruise control, ambient lighting, and ventilated front seats.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Safety Features

This American SUV has a long list of safety features as well. They include 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, tyre pressure monitor, automatic SOS call, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, hill-assist, etc.

The Grand Cherokee also offers an ADAS feature. This safety feature includes adaptive cruise control, active lane management, intercollision assist system, park assist, blind spot and cross-path detection, forward collision warning, etc. Other features include pedestrian/cyclist emergency braking, ready alert braking, rain brake support, and engine immobiliser, to name a few.

Furthermore, the 2022 Grand Cherokee has a five-star safety rating, awarded by the Euro NCAP.

Jeep India has offered only one variant of the Grand Cherokee, the Limited (O). This fully-loaded variant is available in four colours: Rocky Mountain, Diamond Black Crystal, Velvet Red, and Bright White.
