Isuzu Cars in India

The company, in 1934, named its truck Isuzu which was then altered, and the company was renamed to Isuzu Motors Limited in the year 1949, with a capital of 150 million Yen. Since then, the company grew exponentially with the introduction of new Isuzu models, other products and diesel engines for the commercial and passenger vehicle segments, across the globe.

By 2009, Isuzu had produced over 21 million diesel engines globally, which can be found in vehicles all over the world. Isuzu diesel engines are used by dozens of vehicle manufacturers, including the Ford Motor Company and the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance.

Isuzu Motors India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan, was established in 2012 with its headquarters in Chennai. The first set of Isuzu cars in India were the MU-7 and the D-Max. In March 2013, Isuzu  started its sales operations in India by selling the CBU units of the MU-7 and the D-Max to customers through the Hyderabad and Coimbatore dealerships. In June 2013, Isuzu Motors signed a contract with Hindustan Motors Limited (HML) for assembling their CKD units at HML’s Tiruvallur facility.

To establish itself firmly on the Indian manufacturing circuit, Isuzu Motors inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh in April 2016. The range of new Isuzu cars in India consists of the D-Max, the D-Max S-Cab, D-Max V-Cross and the MU-X. As for the prices, Isuzu cars max out at Rs. 27.35 lakh for the MU-X.
