Honda City Highlights
The Honda City has served as a gold standard for mid-size sedans for more than two decades, ever since it made its debut all the way back in 1998. The Honda City is now in its fifth-generation, and Honda has just launched it in the Indian market – as of mid-2020 – after having launched it in Thailand last year.
The City’s increased dimensions mean it’s now the largest and widest sedan in its segment, measuring identically to the Honda Civic from older days. With the 5th generation update, the Honda City price indicates that it’s the most expensive sedan in the space. So, do you get your money’s worth with the new Honda City? Let’s find that out.
Honda All New City Exterior
Since it’s a generation update, the Honda City new model you see above is entirely different from its predecessor. The styling of the new Honda City, then, is heavily inspired by the 2019 Honda Civic. Be it the thick chrome bar on the grille, 9 LEDs setup for the headlamps, strong shoulder line, or the BMW-Esque Z-shaped LED taillamps, it all gels well to the give the new City an elegant and contemporary look.
Honda All New City Variants
The Honda City variants are as follows: V, VX, and ZX. Even though the Honda City on-road price for the higher-spec ZX variants is substantially more than most of its rivals, the extensive feature list makes up for the same. With the ZX trim, you get Honda’s connected car tech, Alexa remote capability, electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery, a 7.0-inch MID, an 8.0-inch infotainment system with Apple Carplay/Android Auto, an 8 speakers premium surround sound system, Ambient Lighting and LED Interior Lamps, to name a few.
Honda All New City Interior
Inside, the dashboard layout of the 2020 Honda City is entirely different from its predecessor. The main highlight inside is the new seats, which are extremely supportive and comfortable. The dashboard is neatly laid out as well, with the 8.0-inch touchscreen taking the centre stage, followed by tactile buttons for climate control. Honda City has been known for its tremendous cabin space, and the 5th generation car only ups the ante forward.
Honda All New City Engine Specifications & Performance
The 2020 Honda City comes powered with a petrol and a diesel engine. It still continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which is good for 98bhp and 200Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as a sole fitment. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, on the other hand, is a new mill, which produces 119bhp and 145Nm of torque. It comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT automatic transmission.
