Honda Amaze Highlights
The Amaze has brought many firsts from Honda in the Indian market. Be it the brand’s 1.5-litre diesel powertrain, the first diesel-CVT powertrain setup in this segment, and more. Besides that, it’s the only compact sedan, as of late-2021, that doesn’t have a hatchback counterpart. This has ensured that the second-generation Amaze has a distinct identity, and that of a sedan and not an elongated hatchback.

The Honda Amaze has undergone a nip-and-tuck for 2021, and it’s now much more appealing and desirable than ever. Not to mention, the Honda Amaze prices, too, have seen an upward revision. So, is this the new compact sedan to beat? Here’s what it’s like.
Honda Amaze Exterior
The Honda Amaze, as discussed above, is built from scratch, without taking inspiration from a small hatchback. The design of the Honda Amaze new model is quite striking and it does not borrow any styling cues from its predecessor. The updated model now gets a full-LED setup at the front and two new slats below the chunky chrome bar in the grille. It also gets new diamond-cut alloy wheels and C-shaped LED taillamps.
Honda Amaze Variants
The Honda Amaze variants are as follows: E, S, and VX. The top-spec VX variant gets some nice-to-have equipment such as a 7.0-inch infotainment screen with Apple Carplay/Android Auto, reverse parking camera, reverse parking sensors, climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, and push-button start with keyless entry.
However, the car does not get any fancy equipment like a wireless charger, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and automatic headlamps, which is quite a bummer for a car that costs as much as the Honda Amaze on-road price.
Honda Amaze Interior
The interiors of the Honda Amaze are almost unchanged from the last update. The overall cabin is finished in black and beige, which now gets dashes of silver on the steering wheel and door pads, although the older lighter beige shade for the seats remains unchanged.
The driver sits facing a nicely laid out instrument cluster with a MID, which although informative seems a bit outdated in front of the competition. The three-spoke steering wheel has controls for the infotainment system as well as cruise control, although the addition of a leather wrap would have made things a bit more premium.
Honda Amaze Engine Specifications & Performance
The Amaze comes powered with a petrol and a diesel engine. First is the company’s 1.2-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine, which is good for 90bhp and 110Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. Next, there’s the company’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder i-DTEC diesel engine, which produces 99bhp and 200Nm of torque when combined with the manual gearbox. In combination with the CVT auto box, the diesel engine is tuned to make 80bhp and 180Nm of torque.
