​The Citroën Basalt EV is anticipated to feature a 35 kWh battery pack coupled with a single electric motor. The motor shall belt out a peak power of around 98-100bhp. The powertrain setup shall be mated to an automatic transmission system for smooth power delivery to the wheels. The vehicle is slated to have a front-wheel drive, ensuring a smooth and efficient driving experience.

The aforementioned configuration is expected to provide a driving range of up to 450 km on a full charge.

Citroen Basalt EV Charging

The Basalt EV is projected to support both standard AC charging and DC fast charging. The fast charger shall provide a 10% to 80% charge in under an hour.

​This upcoming Citroën EV is envisaged to feature a chassis and suspension system designed for comfort and stability. The front suspension shall have a MacPherson strut and a twist-beam setup in the rear, both with coil springs. The available pictures suggest that the upcoming Basalt electric SUV has subtle yet distinct exterior design changes from its ICE counterpart. Spy images reveal a reworked front bumper that omits the traditional grille, aligning with typical EV styling. It also flaunts small revisions to the air dam that enhance aerodynamic efficiency. The charging port seems to have been positioned on the left-hand side rear fender, differentiating it from the petrol variant. New alloy wheels may also be introduced to give the EV a refreshed look. Despite these changes, the Basalt EV retains several signature design elements from the ICE version. It includes wraparound taillights, a shark-fin antenna, a high-mounted stop lamp, a sloping roofline, split headlamps, and flap-type door handles.

The interior of this Citroen electric car is expected to offer a modern and tech-focused layout, offering comfort with connectivity. It should include a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless smartphone integration. The wireless mobile connectivity will further enhance the in-cabin experience. It must also include a fully digital instrument cluster to provide clear and customizable driving information.

For comfort and convenience, it should have features such as automatic climate control and a wireless mobile charger.
