Audi RS5 Highlights
The RS5 has been around since 2010 and came with two doors less, a powerful 4.2-litre V8 engine, and rear seats best reserved for children. It was last updated in 2018 with a smaller V6 engine but still continues to pack a punch, sending power to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
For 2021, the Audi RS5 prices have gone up but in its new avatar, it looks like a totally different and maddening beast altogether. It’s still in its second-generation avatar, but a thorough facelift seems to have spruced things up for the sporty Audi. Its specifications may not be at par or as exciting as the earlier V8 engine, but being short on two cylinders doesn't mean it's lost its charm. As expected by the Audi RS5 on-road price and segment, it also comes loaded with equipment and a well-designed interior.
Audi RS5 Exterior
If there’s one thing that’s certain about the Audi RS5 new model, is that it’s one of the best-looking Audis in the Indian market. It grabs eyeballs on the move, and the long Sportback look and sharp creases are just a delight to look at. The more you look at the Audi RS5, the more pleasing and desirable it gets, especially considering the attention to detail in its design.
At the front, it gets a sizeable gloss-black grille with 'Quattro’ embossed below it. Then there are those smoked-out headlamps that stand out, along with the huge air ducts on the bumper. Along the side, you'll find 20-inch alloy wheels and a sharp crease that runs across the sides. At the rear too, the taillights are smoked-out and get a tapered look. Also, what makes it all the more attractive is the Sportback look.
Audi RS5 Variants
The Audi RS5 variants are as follows: Sportback. It gets the basic features such as well-bolstered leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Audi’s virtual cockpit display, an MMI infotainment system, massaging seats for the front passengers, Parking Aid Plus, a panoramic sunroof, and more. It does, however, miss out on front ventilated seats, wireless charging and wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Audi RS5 Interior
As you’d expect from a sportier Audi, the RS5 gets an all-black cabin layout with sporty touches like a flat-bottom steering wheel and a Sport display for the virtual cockpit. It also gets nice huggable seats at the front that get massaging function and are electrically adjustable.
While the front seats are nice and comfortable, the rear bench is slightly limited in terms of legroom. The fit and finish of everything is top-notch, and headroom is just sufficient for occupants seated at the back. It is no A6 when it comes to the rear seat experience, but the sloping roofline that lends it the Sportback look does make up for the lost rear-seat space.
Audi RS5 Engine Specifications & Performance
Just like its predecessor, the 2021 Audi RS5, too, comes powered by a 2.9-litre, twin-turbo V6 engine that makes 444bhp and 600Nm of torque and is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The performance from the V6 engine is rather linear than something that will keep you pinned to the seats. The engine builds up pace rather slowly – slow comparatively for a model that flaunts an RS badge – and the turbos need some time to spool up. However, as soon as the engine hits the right rev speed, the car just boosts ahead and now it certainly pins you back on the front seat. The gearbox is also lightning quick and works pretty intelligently on its own. It also has a nice and exciting exhaust note that completes the overall experience. Audi claims that the RS5 can do a 0-100km/h sprint in just 3.9 seconds, and we don’t doubt this number even by just a bit.
