2022 Audi A8 L launched at Rs 1.29 crore
The 2022 Audi A8 L brings some exterior updates as well as an upgrade to the already tech-laden cabin. The big talking point though are the Digital Matrix LED headlights which have some really cool features. As before, the 2022 A8 L will be available with a single petrol powertrain option.
The new Audi A8 L gets new lighting technology and a mild cosmetic update.
With the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class making waves and a radically new BMW 7 Series on the way, Audi has brought the A8 L facelift to India. Changes include some updates to the exterior with a little more bling added, plus some new tech and yes, it is petrol-powered only!
In terms of styling, the A8 L gets a new mesh grille at the front with more pronounced use of chrome, slightly redesigned bumpers front and back and a new design on the 19-inch alloy wheels. While it does look good, you’d be hard pressed to tell the facelift apart from the outgoing model in the day.
We say during the day because at night is where the new A8 L shines. Literally. With new Digital Matrix LED headlights that have 1.3 million micro-mirrors that can do all sorts of cool stuff, including the ability to set custom projection patterns for entry and exit. Similarly, the taillights get OLED technology with proximity lighting and different lighting patterns that change as you change the drive modes via Audi Drive Select.
On the inside, the new A8 L gets a 10.1-inch infotainment screen running the latest MIB 3 software, along with an 8.6-inch secondary display for HVAC and other functions. The A8 L also gets Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster and two 10.1-inch screens at the back for the rear passengers.
The A8 L will also get a rear seat executive package that includes the screens above, plus reclining and massaging rear seats and even a (heated) foot massager!
Powering the A8 L will be a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol V6 engine producing 335bhp and 500Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed gearbox sending power to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
Prices for the A8 L start at Rs 1.29 crore for the Celebration Edition while the Technology variant costs Rs 1.57 crore. It goes head to head against the Mercedes-Benz S-Class which starts at Rs 1.6 crore and the BMW 7 Series which starts at Rs 1.41 crore.
