Yo bike is the first Indian brand to officially launch electric two-wheelers in India. Launched in 2006, it is the brainchild of Electrotherm India Limited (EIL), a Gujarat-based conglomerate working for the past three decades in the field of electrical and electronic engineering solutions. The brand was envisioned by the Chairman and CTO of EIL, Mr. Mukesh Bhandari, who started work on the R&D operations of this ambitious project in 2004.
In 2015, Yo bike registered a record in their name when one of their two-wheelers, the EXL ER, became the first-ever solar-powered electric scooter to scale the world's highest known motorable road, the 'Khardung La Pass,' at a height of 18,380 feet in Ladakh. The mission was successfully accomplished on 14th September 2015 with joint efforts by Electrotherm India Limited and the Global Himalayan Expedition. In the entire expedition, 100% renewable energy was used. The key agenda of this ride was to promote environment-friendly transportation while highlighting the capabilities of modern-day electric mobility.
Yo bike is constantly investing its time and resources into developing better and refined products for the Indian market, keeping in mind the fact that as global emission norms are getting tougher and bearing down on the conventional petroleum-based mobility industry, electric mobility has a bright future ahead of itself, especially in mass-markets like India.
The range of Yo bike in India consists of the Electron ER and the Xplor which form the company’s 2018 product line-up.
Yo bikes prices in India start at around ₹36,900 for the 2018 Electron ER and go up to ₹38,900 for the 2018 Xplor. All YO bike price listings can be found on the website of autoX
