It’s been known for quite a while now that Vespa is evaluating an electric scooter for the Indian market. At the Auto Expo 2020, the Italian bikemaker showcased the Elettrica, which is currently on sale in the international markets. The electric Vespa did raise some brows at the Auto Expo 2020, meaning there’s a slight chance Vespa might consider launching it in the Indian market.
By the looks of it, the Elettrica looks largely the same as its other ICE-powered siblings, albeit with a few tweaks. If the scooter showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 is anything to go by, the Vespa Electric scooter will distinguish itself from its sibling with the help of lime highlights on the seat, front apron, and rims.
If the international-spec Elettrica is taken as a reference, the Vespa Electric scooter you see above will feature a 4kW motor and will work in tandem with a battery that has a claimed range of 100km and takes 4 hours to fully-charge.
As said above, Vespa is evaluating its first electric scooters’ launch in the Indian market. If it comes to the Indian market, expect it to be priced around the Rs 1 lakh mark. The expected Vespa Electric scooter price will put it up against the Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X, and TVS iQube.
