Triumph Tiger 900 [2020-2022] Highlights
The Triumph Tiger 900 follows the footsteps of its now-discontinued sibling, the Tiger 800, which used to be the most revered and capable adventure motorcycle in the space. The Tiger 900, then, has big shoes to fill in line its incredibly capable adventure-motorcycle predecessor.
Triumph says that the Tiger 900 is built entirely from scratch and bears no resemblance to the model it replaces. But the question that remains to be answered; does it perform better on and off the tarmac than its predecessor? Let’s take a look.
Exterior Details
As said earlier, the Tiger 900 does not bear any resemblance to its erstwhile sibling. It gets new slimmer headlamps, a revamped beak, fuel tank, seat, as well as a new windscreen. As far as its dimensions are concerned, the adventure bike is 930mm in width and 1,460mm in height. Moreover, it has a wheelbase of 1,556mm and a fuel tank capacity of 20-litres.
Engine & Transmission
A sizeable update from the model it replaces, the Triumph Tiger 900, as the name suggests, comes powered with an 888cc three-cylinder motor, which is good for 92.6bhp and 87Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. Lastly, the Triumph Tiger 900 mileage is expected to be around 25km/l.
Handling
In the handling department, the Triumph Tiger 900 new model, in the Rally and Rally Pro trim, rides on beefy and fully-adjustable 45mm upside-down forks. The entire range gets dual 320mm disc brakes at the front and a 255mm disc at the rear. Moreover, the bike is built around a tubular steel frame, and it rides on a 100/90-19 tyre at the front and a 150/70 R17 tyre at the back.
Features
The 2020 Triumph Tiger 900 finally gets a bunch of electronics in line with its competitors. The feature list includes traction control, different riding modes, bi-directional quick-shifter, and cornering ABS. It also gets a new 7.0-inch TFT display, which houses all the instrumentation. As for the electricals, the headlamp and taillamp are both powered with LEDs. Moreover, the Tiger 900 also gets an LED DRL upfront.
Price & Variants
The Triumph Tiger 900 is available in three variants. The Triumph Tiger 900 price (as of mid-2020) is ₹13.7 lakh for the GT variant, ₹14.35 lakh for the Rally variant, and ₹15.5 lakh for the Rally Pro variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).
