Triumph Street Twin Highlights
The British automaker's entry-level offering, the Triumph Street Twin, has received minor updates cosmetically for 2021. The bike had already received BS6 emission updates in 2020, so it doesn't get a lot this year. But it already proves itself a worthy competitor in the Indian market, being one of Triumph's most popular offerings in its Modern Retro avatar. Read on to find out what's new and alluring with the 2021 Triumph Street Twin.
Exterior Details
Not a lot has changed for the latest variant of the Triumph Street Twin. The bike is iconic in its Modern Retro garb, and Triumph has decided to simply update it. The neo-retro motorcycle remains more or less similar to its predecessor. However, the bike receives minor styling cues derived from its elder cousin, the Speed Twin. The bike now gets machined alloy rims, and the saddle has been slightly reworked for a premium look and gets thicker seat foam. The side panels get aluminium mesh details, and certain small elements now feature a brushed aluminium finish. The Street Twin text also gets a font update.
Engine & Transmission
The British motorcycle gets a 900cc parallel-twin motor that puts down 65PS of power at 7500rpm and 80Nm of peak torque at 3800rpm, 100rpm higher than the last variant. The High Torque engine is supported by a five-speed transmission and a slip-and-assist clutch. For safety, the bike gets dual-channel ABS and switchable traction control.
Handling
The Triumph Street Twin's handling features remain the same. 41mm KYB cartridge forks and preload-adjustable twin shocks support the motorcycle. Compared to its classic siblings in the rest of Triumph's line-up, the Street Twin's braking components were already superior. So, it gets the same 4-piston Brembo calliper mounted to a 310mm front disc. The rear wheel gets a 255mm rotor with a Nissin twin-piston calliper. The 18-inch front/17-inch rear alloy setup comes shod with Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres.
Features
Being a classic Modern Retro motorcycle, the Triumph Street Twin is rather minimalistic. Keeping up with that theme, the bike doesn't get a lot of features. The Street Twin gets basic electronic rider aids and two rider modes - Rain and Road. The lighting is still Halogen on the Twin except for its LED tail light. The analogue speedometer has a small digital screen, barely classifying it as a semi-digital console, yet features a lot of information.
Price & Variants
The 2021 Triumph Street Twin gets one standard variant in India priced at ₹7.95 lakhs (Ex-Showroom), and a limited-edition Gold Line variant priced at ₹8.25 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). The bike gets four colour schemes - Cobalt Blue, Matte Ironstone, Jet Black and Matte Sapphire Black.
