Triumph Speed Twin Exterior Details

The exterior of the Triumph Speed Twin features classic Modern Retro motorcycle looks, which the British manufacturer is best known for. The frame of the Speed Twin is derived from the Thruxton R cafe racer and looks come from the bike's smaller sibling, the Street Twin. For its BS6 iteration, the bike gets a few cosmetic upgrades such as anodised headlight mounts, mudguard mounts, 12-spoke alloy wheels, and updated graphics. Other features have been retained from the BS4 variant. The seat height of the bike has gone up by 2mm at 809mm, and Triumph says that the rake has been adjusted as well for better manoeuvrability.

Triumph Speed Twin Engine & Transmission

Powering the Triumph Speed Twin is a 1200cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that now puts down 98.6bhp at 7250rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4250rpm. Mechanical upgrades to the Triumph's engine include high-compression pistons, revised ports and cam profiles, lighter crankshaft, and a new alternator, to name a few. What all this means is that the Triumph Speed Twin now puts down more power, with more usable and linear torque and compatibility with BS6 emission norms. Triumph Speed Twin Handling

Handling capabilities in the BS6 Triumph Street Twin are given to 43mm Marzocchi upside-down forks that feature cartridge damping. On the rear, it is supported with preload-adjustable twin-sided springs. Anchoring the bike are 320mm twin discs at the front with top-end Brembo M50 callipers. The rear braking setup features a 220mm single disc with a Nissin calliper. The top of the line Pirelli Diablo Rossos have been replaced with even better Metzeler Racetec RR tyres.  

Triumph Speed Twin Features

The Triumph Speed Twin gets a few basic features. The bike gets a full LED treatment, a USB socket and the same semi-digital instrument cluster from the last variant. The instrument cluster can view details such as the bike's three riding modes - Rain, Road and Sport. Other than that, the bike offers safety features such as traction control and ABS. Triumph offers a wide range of accessories for the motorcycle, however, playing off of the platform's customizability.
