Evolet Polo Highlights
The Evolet Polo is an offering by an Indian EV two-wheeler startup, Evolet. It is a mid-level offering by the brand and plays sibling to the Evolet Pony, their smallest entry-level EV scooter offering in India. The Evolet Polo offers a unique, retro European scooter design sensibility in an EV package. Although they're similarly priced, the Evolet Polo does offer certain differences compared to its sibling, the Pony. A majority of these differences are cosmetic, as the Polo gets a visor that the Pony doesn't get. That being said, the Evolet Polo also offers a slightly higher claimed range to its sibling. So is the similarly priced Evolet Polo a compelling offering in India, or specifically, the Indian EV scooter market? Read on for more information.
Exterior Details
The Evolet Polo, like its sibling, is a small scooter that gets a unique European scooter inspired design. It gets Halogen lighting with a small LED pilot lamp in the headlight. Speaking of which, the Polo gets an apron mounted headlight design as well. With large indicators under it. The retro design is carried throughout the front and rear of the scooter. It gets a slightly smaller dual seat, with a large chrome luggage rack on the rear end. The Evolet Polo is slightly heavier than its sibling, the Pony, coming in at a kerb weight of 96kgs.
Engine & Transmission
The Evolet Polo gets a BLDC motor capable of 250 watts of power, mated to either a 48V/24Ah VRLA lead-acid battery in the Evolet Polo EZ variant, or a 48V/24Ah Lithium-ion battery in the Evolet Polo Classic variant. The Evolet Polo is capable of a top speed of 25kmph and a range of a claimed 60-65kmph, much similar to its sibling. The VRLA battery variant takes a charging time of 8-9 hours, and the Lithium-ion battery takes a claimed charging time of 3-4 hours.
Handling
The Evolet Polo is suspended on telescopic front forks, and twin shocks at the rear end. Anchoring the Evolet Polo is a disc/drum brake combination and 10-inch aluminium alloys on both ends. For safety, it gets Electronically assisted ABS as standard.
Features
Features in the Evolet Polo include retro styling and halogen lighting. The scooter gets a luggage rack on the rear and a visor on the front end.
