BMW S 1000 R Exterior Details

The latest S 1000 R features a significant redesign. It gets a new headlight, different tank design and angular radiator shrouds and belly pan, giving the motorcycle an aggressive look. The new headlight features a DRL setup and its design is synonymous with BMW's newer motorcycle models. The rear end of the S 1000 R comes from its full fairing cousin, the S 1000 RR.

BMW S 1000 R Engine & Transmission

The litre-class naked borrows its drive drain from its fully-faired sibling. For the 2021 edition, the motorcycle's 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine comes BS6 emissions compliant. The litre engine puts down 167PS at 11000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 9250rpm. A more linear torque curve and taller final gear ratios mean the bike comes more usable at lower RPMs, as per the Bavarian automaker. Supporting the engine is a six-speed manual gearbox.

BMW S 1000 R Handling

The latest iteration of the BMW S 1000 R gets an all-new frame supporting it. The Bavarian automaker has done this for better handling. The bike gets 45mm USD forks on the front and a mono-shock rear, both fully adjustable for preload and rebound. Optionally, the litre-class naked also gets a semi-active electronic suspension. Halting the bike is a dual 320mm rotor setup upfront married with four-piston callipers. The rear end gets a 200mm single rotor with a floating calliper.  

BMW S 1000 R Features

The BMW S 1000 R gets a fair list of features for its 2021 iteration. This includes a comprehensive list of rider aids. The bike gets three riding modes, dynamic traction control and cornering ABS as standard. The bike also gets a Bluetooth compatible navigation suite. All this data is accessible through the bike's 6.5-inch coloured TFT display. The S 1000 R's higher variants get even more features. Such as the Pro variant that gets keyless ignition and an up and down quick shifter. The top-end Pro M Sport variant gets lightweight carbon fibre wheels as standard, a lightweight Lithium-ion battery, and more.

BMW S 1000 R Price & Variants 

The 2021 BMW S 1000 R gets three variants in India. A standard variant priced at ₹17.9 lakhs (Ex-Showroom), an S 1000 R Pro variant priced at ₹19.75 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) and an S 1000 R Pro M Sport variant priced at ₹22.5 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). The bike gets three colour schemes - Racing Red, Light White/ M Motorsport and Hockenheim Silver Metallic.
