The Bavarian automaker, BMW, is hailed internationally for coming up with the BMW R 1250 GS, one of the best ADV Tourers in the world that money can buy. With a tag like that, updating a motorcycle for its latest variant can be a daunting task. But BMW has done it and given us the 2021 BMW R 1250 GS with minor mechanical and visual updates. BMW R 1250 GS Exterior Details

The BMW R 1250 GS continue its iconic design of a top-heavy enduro with its beak-style front. The bike features an adjustable windscreen and a typical mile-muncher, ADV stance. The bike gets a large 20-litre fuel tank and plenty of crash protection. The bike also gets new colour schemes for the 2021 variant, including a special edition that features a black and gold colour scheme.

BMW R 1250 GS Engine & Transmission

The latest BMW R 1250 GS, ever since BS6 updates, runs a 1254cc, air and liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder, boxer engine with BMW ShiftCam technology. The engine puts down 136PS at 7750rpm and 143Nm of peak torque at 6250rpm. For safety, the bike gets traction control and ABS Pro, among other features.

BMW R 1250 GS Handling

Handling in the BMW R 1250 GS is taken care of by a BMW Motorrad Telelever on the front, which is basically a telescopic fork set up with a central spring strut. On the rear, the bike gets a BMW Motorrad Paralever mono-shock. Unlike its beefier sibling, the Adventure model's spoked rims, the R 1250 GS gets alloy rims. Braking is handled by twin discs on the front wheel and a single rotor on the rear wheel.

BMW R 1250 GS Features

The BMW R 1250 GS gets a slew of features. We only get the Pro variant in India. Hence it gets full-LED lighting with an adaptive headlight including cornering lights as optional. The bike also gets comfort features like keyless ride, heated grips, USB charging, along with plenty of luggage space through panniers. Safety features include traction control, adaptive cruise control, ABS Pro and hill-start control. The bike also gets three ride modes - Eco, Road, and Rain.
