BMW R 12 Engine and Transmission

This motorcycle is powered by an 1170cc 2-cylinder 4-stroke boxer air and liquid-cooled engine. It generates a maximum power of 93.7bhp at 6500 rpm and 109.8 Nm at 6000 rpm, respectively. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission system with shaft drive and a single-plate clutch system.

With the aforementioned deliveries, this two-wheeler achieves quick acceleration, making it a fast runner. The top speed of the bike is stated to be 203 km/h, offering an exhilarating ride experience on long routes.

BMW R 12 Specifications

The BMW R 12 sits on a tubular space frame and a suspension setup with a rear paralever brace. The front suspension is a 45mm upside-down telescopic fork while the rear one is a cast aluminum single-sided swing arm. The motorbike rides on a 19-inch front alloy wheel that sports a 100mm wide radial tubeless tyre. The rear wheel’s size is 16 inches and its sports a 150mm wide tyre. For braking tasks, this vehicle gets a 310mm front disc and 265mm rear disc, offering optimum stopping and controlling power.

The overall length of the R12 is 2200mm and its height is 1110mm. It is 831mm wide with having a wheelbase of 1520mm. The bike’s seat has been positioned at a height of 753mm and its kerb weight stands at 227 kg. Further, the fuel tank has a capacity of 14 litres.

BMW R 12 Exterior Design and Elements

This BMW bike flaunts a round headlamp with a similar design as the R12 nine T. There is a separate sturdy bar that holds the stylish front turn indicators. The transparent visor could be optional and the single pod cluster is also visible.

Its fly line slopes down towards the rear giving a classic cruiser look. The rear wheel cover is large and exposed due to the solo seat setup. The teardrop fuel tank is made of steel and the wheels exhibit multi-spoke configuration. The dual exhaust trim is upswept and has been placed on the left. Besides, the rear end features a sleek tail lamp, sleek turn indicators, and a registration plate illumination light.

This motorcycle is equipped with a dual-channel antilock braking system that provides safety by making it skid-resistant. It has a round instrument cluster featuring an analogue speedometer that exhibits the modern vintage charm. The bike boasts LED lighting, a steering stabilizer, a traction control system, a rebound and preload adjustability option, and ABS pro.

It gets a USB charging port, LED flashing turn indicators, dynamic brake light, and daytime running lights. Comfort features like hill start control, gear shift assistant, heated grips, and cruise control are also included. In addition, it also has brake and clutch lever adjustability, keyless ride, and ride modes.
