MRF has participated actively in the world of Indian motorsport for decades and currently runs two one-make single-seater championships in India. First is the Formula Ford 1600 (FF1600), which serves as the flagship race of the National Racing Championship. Powered by a 1.6-litre Ford engine that churns out 140bhp, the FF1600 car serves as a stepping stone for aspiring drivers aiming to make a career in single-seater racing. We, at autoX, like other motorsports events also cover the MRF Racing series and its big brother – the Formula 2000 championship, which sees Indian drivers compete against some of the best in the world in 210-bhp race cars. To give drivers an understanding of the challenges that they are likely to face in the future, some of the races are held outside India at FIA / FIM accredited circuits.
