Defending World Rally champion Sebastien Ogier won ahead of Volkswagen Motorsport teammates Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen as the German marque won their home event for the first time in their WRC history.
Hyundai took the remaining two spots in the top five, a stark contrast from when Thierry Neuville triumphed last year after all three VW cars retired from the event. Neuville could only manage fifth place behind Hyundai teammate and former Citroen driver Dani Sordo.
Ogier's sixth win in nine WRC events of the 13 round season extends his drivers' championship lead over Latvala to 93 points.
Sixth, seventh and eighth in their Ford Fiesta WRCs were Elfyn Evans, Mads Ostberg and Ott Tanak with Hyundai's Haydon Paddon and reigning junior WRC champion Stephane Lefebvre taking tenth place in his Citroen DS3 at his first event driving a World Rally Car.
The WRC season resumes on the weekend of 11 to 13 September at Rally Australia as we switch back to gravel rallying. The German event is one of only two tarmac events in the WRC season, with the second due on the 2 to 4 September weekend at the Tour de Corse in France.
