While walking trackside at the Buddh International F1 circuit at Greater Noida during the Indian Grand Prix weekend, one can spot a sign that reads, 'SCHUMI, WE MISS YOU'.

A 'shout-out' to the retired seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, whose exploits during his eventful career were well documented and broadcast in India.

However, what the Indian F1 fans responsible for that sign may not be aware of, is that a 15-year-old compatriot of theirs - Jehan Daruvala (right, in picture next to former three-time F1 champion Niki Lauda) - indirectly caused the German legend some grief during his 2013 karting campaign with the Sahara Force India Academy.

The highlight of the karting season for Daruvala was recently clinching the British karting championship in the KF3 category.

But along the way, at a karting event in Italy, Daruvala fell foul of Schumacher by passing the German's 15-year-old son Mick.

"It was just a racing incident in the race," said Daruvala casually to autoX on Saturday in the paddock of the Buddh International Circuit ahead of the Indian Grand Prix. "His son was in the race and I passed him and pushed him out of the way. So he got a little upset with me and has gotten sour with me.

"It was the second lap of the race and I went up the inside of him (Mick) and he swerved on the inside so I touched his back bumper and he ran wide and I passed him."

Daruvala stated, however, that since the incident Schumacher has patched up with the Mumbai-born and raised youngster and that the incident is one of many that he expects to encounter on his way through the karting ranks before even considering single seat racing.

"Some grids in Europe are up to 80 plus and others can have as many as 34 top karters," said Daruvala. "So the competition can be really fierce as.

"I'll be doing the seniors KF European and world championships where even one tenth of a second can make a massive difference."
