Third edition of Tata Prima Truck Racing will include 12 Indian truck drivers participating in the Super Class category at the event. Six teams and 12 international drivers to compete in the Pro-Class.
The final rounds of the Tata Motors Prima Truck Racing Season 3 will be held on March 20, 2016 at the Buddh International Circuit. The truck racing series introduces an all-new Super Class category this year, where 12 Indian Truck drivers will be racing against each other. Like earlier seasons, the Pro-Class will comprise 12 international professional truck racing drivers.
While Tata Motors has been organizing the event for two years, this season is a bit more special. As part of its newly introduced T1 Racer Program, Tata Motors has selected 17 Indian truck drivers for the series out of a total of 550 entries. Of the shortlisted, 12 drivers will be further finalized to take part in the Super Class category this year. The Pro-Class will continue the same way with a total of six teams and 12 international drivers participating at the event. There will two races for each class.
According to Tata Motors, the trucks competing in the 2016 season (called the T1 2016) come with 43 additional modifications over the race trucks from previous season. Improvements include lowered centre of gravity by 100 mm, lighter suspension system, improved shock absorbers, more efficient brake cooling system with jet nozzles, lightweight aluminium fuel tank & water tanks and new lower profile tyres of size 315/70 R 22.5 in place of 315/80 R 22.5 from last season. Spec wise, the race truck has a rated power output of 370bhp @ 2,100 rpm and a top speed of just over 130 km/h.
