Suzuki has revealed that the Gixxer Cup will return for a second season, in addition to the partnership with Red Bull for the Road To Rookies Cup.
Suzuki has announced the second season of the Gixxer Cup one make motorcycle racing series in India for the year 2016.
Season one of the Gixxer cup featured five rounds with races being held at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai and the final round being held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
The 2015 season saw riders compete in Novice and Open categories. Meka Vidhuraj was crowned champion fro the Open category, while Vishwadev Muraleedharan was the Novice category champion for the inaugural season.
The 2016 season will feature as support races for the five rounds of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship. However, the final season calendar is yet to be finalised.
Suzuki has also announced its partnership with Red Bull for the Road to Rookies cup 2016. This partnership is to allow young racer to graduate from entry level racing to Rokkies Cup, Moto3 and further up the order to Moto2 and MotoGP.
Red Bull introduced the MotoGP Rookies cup back in 2007. The series has elevated many riders into Moto3 and Moto2 categories already since its inception. Johann Zarco and Danny Kent who are the 2015 Moto2 and Moto3 world champions respectively, were both ex Rookie cup riders. The 2016 campaign will be the tenth season of the series. The championship has five round held all across Europe, with a selection of race tracks from the MotoGP calendar.
