Sahara Force India Formula 1 Team supported driver Jehan Daruvala took his second straight victory in the New Zealand-based Toyota Racing Series today by winning the first of two races at the second round of the season at Teretonga Park.
A driver going off on the third lap caused a safety car period and two drivers colliding on lap seven and a crash following the restart caused the race to be red flagged twice, which allowed Daruvala to stay within striking difference of pole sitter Lando Norris with whom he shared the front row of the grid.
Daruvala had previously set the fastest time in free practice and taken second place in qualifying, an improvement over his single lap pace from the opening round.
After the second red-flag period, with just four laps remaining, Daruvala was able to capitalise on his chances at the restart of the race and pass Norris to start the second round of the five round, fifteen race season on a winning note.
The seventeen-year-old Mumbai native also set the fastest lap en route to victory. Daruvala came into the second round in fifth place in the points standings.
Two more races will be held on Sunday.
