The Indian Rally Championship (IRC) is set to kick off on the June 13 to 15 weekend with the Nasik Rally as per the recently updated Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India (FMSCI) calendar of events.

The tarmac rally is to be the first of six events to be held in the national rally championship that will see its official name tweaked (dropping the 'National' from Indian National Rally Championship).

There was initial confusion as both the Madras Motor Sport Track (MMST) and the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) were listed as venues for the Indian Rally Championship this year, with the opening round at the MMST scheduled to begin earlier this month.

A revised calendar of events sees the BIC no longer listed as a venue.

The opening round at Nasik is the only tarmac round on the calendar, however, the second round of the IRC at Coimbatore could see one of the closing stages run at the Kari Motor Speedway circuit as was the case last year.
