The final round of the JK Tyre FMSCI National Karting Championship concluded in Bengaluru here today with Shahan Ali Mohsin, Akash Gowda and Ricky Donison winning the titles in the Micro Max, Junior Max and Senior Max categories at the 1.2 km Meco Kartopia circuit.

MICRO MAX
Eleven-year-old Shahan Ali Mohsin came into the final round with an 18-point lead over Ruhaan Alva and did enough to hold on to that advantage by taking a second place each in the pre-final and final. The final round started with what was - in hindsight - a slight hiccup as Mohsin was disqualified from third place in qualifying. Mohsin, who has also been racing and winning in the Asia Max Karting Challenge in Malaysia was able to fight his way to the head of the field in the heats, however, and drove within himself in Sunday's pre-final and final to clinch the title.

Pre-Final
1) Nikhil Bora (Meco Racing)
2) Shahan Ali Mohsin (Meco Racing)
3) Aditya Swaminathan (Meco Racing)

3) Ruhaan Alva (BPC Racing)

JUNIOR MAX
Rayo Racing's Mohammed Nallwala was unable to reclaim the lead in the battle for the Junior Max title, which looked to be his at one point in the season, as Meco Racing's Akash Gowda from Bengaluru finished second and third in the pre-final and final. Nallwala's third place and victory was not enough to close the eleven point lead to Gowda. Nirmal Umashankar was the strongest performer in the Junior Max category with a win and second place.

2) Akash Gowda (Meco Racing)

SENIOR MAX
BPC Racing's Ricky Donison won the title in the Senior Max category as Rayo Racing's Nayan Chatterjee was unable to overcome a five-point deficit after enduring a difficult weekend. A fourth and third place finish was in stark contrast to Donison who won both the pre-final and final, besting Dhruv Mohite and former Senior Max champion Vishnu Prasad.
