Anindith Reddy earned eligibility for a ticket to the Mazda Road to Indy shootout in the United States later this year.
Chennai's Sandeep Kumar dominated the entire Round 5 of the MRF F1600 championship by scoring three podiums during the racing weekend.
In the second race of the fifth round, Ishaan Dodhiwala started on the pole position. However, Arya Singh soon overtook him during the second lap. Meanwhile, Anindith Reddy, who was last on the grid, moved up to number four. During the fifth lap, Sandeep had already caught up with Arya to grab the lead. This was despite Arya having a huge lead initially. Behind them, Chetan Korada and Keith Desouza continuously battled for the fourth rank. Dodhiwala ultimately could only manage number six.
In the final race of the weekend, Sandeep started on the pole and got a reasonably good start - which helped him maintain his lead. Meanwhile, Chetan Korada and Anindith Reddy were competing for the runner-up spot.
Korada struggled to maintain his pace, and was quickly overtaken by Arya Singh and Keith Desouza. Arya Singh then constantly battled with Sandeep, inching pretty close to the latter. However, Sandeep still managed to stay ahead until the end. Both Reddy and Korada fell behind Ishaan Dodhiwala.
Anindith Reddy, who did not have the best of weekends in the triple-header with one non-finish, a second and third spot, is now eligible for a ticket to the Mazda Road to Indy shootout in the United States later this year.
