Aprilia has announced a significant addition to its MotoGP team for the 2025 season by signing Marco Bezzecchi from Ducati's VR46 team. Bezzecchi, a proven race winner with three victories, achieved the best finish of his career in last year's MotoGP championship by securing a third-place finish. He will join Jorge Martin, making for an entirely new lineup for the Italian factory team. This move fulfils Bezzecchi's dream of securing a factory ride, although it comes with Aprilia instead of his initial preference, Ducati. Having an Italian rider boosts Aprilia's marketing and brand presence. Bezzecchi's arrival not only injects Italian flair into the team but also adds a rider with podium potential, bolstering Aprilia's championship aspirations.

Massimo Rivola, Aprilia Racing CEO, said, 'Welcome aboard to one of the best Italian talents, who has demonstrated his worth from his debut in the lower categories and especially last year in MotoGP, with outstanding performances and even breakaway victories. We can’t wait to embrace Bez in Noale; the Italian bike and Italian rider duo are extremely exciting, but even more so is the rider pair which will be formed with Jorge. We are really happy with our line-up for 2025, Martín and Bezzecchi were our first choices for their age, talent, grit, and determination. With them, we can write a new and important chapter in the history of Aprilia Racing.'

MotoGP: Bezzecchi and Ducati

Marco Bezzecchi's 2024 season hasn't gone as planned, with just one podium finish in the first seven rounds, leaving him trailing his teammate, Fabio di Giannantonio, in the standings. This underwhelming performance makes his recent move to Aprilia even more surprising.

Initially, Bezzecchi wanted to stay with Ducati, choosing a year-old bike with VR46 over a factory-spec Desmosedici at Pramac for familiarity and stability. However, his hopes for a factory ride with Ducati were dashed when the team chose Marc Marquez to partner with Francesco Bagnaia for 2025.

This turn of events creates a win-win situation for both Bezzecchi and Aprilia. Bezzecchi leaves a challenging situation and secures a coveted factory ride, while Aprilia gains a talented young rider with podium potential. His arrival alongside Jorge Martin brings Italian spirit to the team, boosting morale and resonating with fans. After fielding Spanish riders Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales in recent seasons, Bezzecchi fills a void and adds a new dimension to Aprilia's identity.

This unexpected move sets the stage for an exciting new chapter for both Bezzecchi and Aprilia. He will be eager to prove himself on a factory machine, and Aprilia hopes to leverage his talent to move up the grid. The new rider lineup could be a game-changer for Aprilia, and all eyes will be on them for the 2025 season.
