Alex Rins, who sustained a double break in his right leg during the MotoGP sprint race at Mugello in Italy, will have a second surgery on the limb later this week. On lap four of the 11-lap contest, the LCR Honda rider crashed into the high-speed Arrabiata 1 curve, breaking his tibia and fibula. A team statement announced on Monday that Rins returned to Spain to "continue his healing process after the injury he sustained last Saturday at the Italian Grand Prix'' after emergency surgery that evening. It comes as no surprise that Rins will miss the next two races, at the Sachsenring this weekend and Assen on June 25, due to the severity of his injuries. After that, on August 6, the British Grand Prix will take place at Silverstone after a six-week summer vacation. The fractures look to be rather serious in the photo that Mir has shared and it is doubtful at this time that he will be able to participate in that event.
MotoGP: Honda Riders Taking Too Many Risks?
In the Italian MotoGP sprint race, the LCR Honda rider crashed and injured his leg. The first operation went well, but now comes the long road to recovery. The British MotoGP at Silverstone on August 6 is the earliest that he may possibly return. However, the extent of his injury may extend Rins' time out of action.

With three of its riders involved in incidents, Honda had a terrible weekend at Mugello. After falling out of the grand prix, Marc Marquez luckily escaped injury, but Joan Mir shattered a finger and had to sit at the races. Marquez subsequently said the three riders took "too much risk" by trying to out-manoeuvre the Honda equipment, which led to their crashes.
Marc Marquez said after the Italian Grand Prix, "If you put in riders with a winner mentality and you don’t have the chance to be up there, the problem is that you will crash more and more times because we are pushing more than the others to be on that lap time. And this is what happened. But yeah, I keep going, I keep pushing and we need to be together and work with the team to change the situation for the future, for these next races, the second part of the season, and especially for next year."
MotoGP: Marc Marquez Heads to One of His Favourite GP Tracks
This weekend marks MotoGP's seventh round of the season, the second of three consecutive races at Sachsenring. The track holds a special place in Marc Marquez's heart; eight of his career triumphs have come there.
After a shaky start to the season, the Honda Team rider is hoping to turn things around in Germany. Due to the absence of Mir, the Repsol Honda team will enter the German Grand Prix with just Marquez.
MotoGP races have been held at Sachsenring since 1998 despite the fact that the track is mainly used as a driver training centre and road transport safety station. There are a lot of tight turns, making this one of the slower courses on the calendar, but the competition is usually high.
