It is needless to say that there has been enough build-up of anticipation around the launch of McLaren's new hypercar, the P1. Enthusiasts around the world, along with the motoring press have been waiting in nail-biting hope of  witnessing the launch of the spiritual successor to the legendary F1.

To satiate this anticipation, McLaren cars today has revealed further details about the car, including the P1's specs, just days before the official reveal of car takes place at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Not surprisingly, it is the astonishing performance of the car which is highlighted once again, as the P1 aims to wrest the crown of the fastest accelerating car in the world with 0-100km/h coming up in less than 3 seconds, zero to 200 in under 7 seconds and zero to 300 coming up in 17 seconds. Just to give you a perspective, that's a whole 5 seconds faster than the time taken by the F1 to reach 300km/h!

As has been announced earlier, the P1 will have a combination of two cutting-edge power plants, combining to offer superb response, everyday driveability and outstanding performance. The MP4-12C derived 3.8-litre twin-turbo motor has been substantially upgraded with larger turbo's and other enhancements, including the electric motor known as the IPAS (Instant Power Assist System), both of which combined give the P1 903bhp and 900Nm of torque. To showoff their F1-derived technology, the P1 also boasts of a an F1 style DRS system which enables instant overboost of 176bhp via the electric motor, enabling instant acceleration and overtaking capability. The electric motor on its own is capable of driving the P1 to over 10kms of range on electric power alone, thereby reducing the P1's CO2 output to under 200g/km.

Based on the response of their customers, the styling of the car has remained largely similar to the concept that was first shown at the Paris Motor Show. And in standard form, the car will come fully equipped to be driven both on the road and on race tracks. Of course, since it is flagship product, to maintain exclusivity McLaren has decided to limit production to only 375 units, meaning that the P1 will remain a prized treasure among the wealthiest enthusiasts and collectors.

Of course, such exclusivity and performance comes at a price, and in this case the price is a mere £866,000. So, if you would like to purchase one, keep a mere Rs. 7.1 Crores handy, plus additional duties and taxes of course!
