Red Bull have announced that Max Verstappen will be driving for Red Bull Racing from the F1 Spanish Grand Prix.

Red Bull have announced a new driver line-up from the Spanish Grand Prix. Max Verstappen has been promoted to drive along side Daniel Ricciardo for Red Bull Racing. Daniil Kvyat will continue to drive fro Red Bull as he will rejoin their sister team Scuderia Torro Rosso to team up with Carlos Sainz Jr.

Following a mistake by Kvyat at his home race in Sochi, where the Russian collided twice with the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel which led him to crash out of race, made the Red Bull bosses to re-asses his position as a Red Bull Racing driver.

Or so goes the official stand of the team, with suggestions rife of the team wanting to promote Verstappen to the senior team early in order to prevent their F1 rivals from snapping him up.

On the first lap, Kvyat collided with Vettel’s Ferrari at turn 2, unsettling the German and colliding with the Redbull of Daniel Ricciardo. At turn 3, Kvyat again rammed into the rear of Vettels Ferrari a second time which punctured his rear left tyre and spin out. Vettel collided with barriers and retire from the race.

The race officials awarded Kvyat a 10 second stop-and-go penalty for causing a collision as well. Upon returning to the pitlane, Vettel went to have a word with an apologetic Christian Horner.

Horner said; "Max has proven to be an outstanding young talent. His performance at Toro Rosso has been impressive so far and we are pleased to give him the opportunity to drive for Red Bull Racing.”

"Dany (Daniil Kvyat) will be able to continue his development at Toro Rosso, in a team that he is familiar with, giving him the chance to regain his form and show his potential."
