Sarosh Hataria and Jeffrey Kruger took a double win to sweep the LGB Formula 4 and Volkswagen Polo R Cup races, respectively while Vishnu Prasad and Arjun Maini took a win apiece in the JK FB-02 class on the second and final day of the third round of the JK Tyre Racing Championship at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida today.

JK TYRE FB-02

After scoring his first ever win in the JK Tyre FB-02 class on Saturday, Maini once again took the fight to series points leader Prasad as the two were involved in a tense scrap for the win in the first race this morning. Maini assumed an early lead but was followed closely by Prasad who passed him half-way through the ten lap race. Prasad held on for the win despite being trailed by Maini and ultimately took the chequered flag by a margin of 1.308 seconds. Mahaveer Raghunathan was third.

In the second and final race of the third round, Maini again started from pole but was passed by Prasad who was then trailed by the 15-year-old from Bangalore until the final lap of the race. On the tenth and final lap, Prasad admitted to making a mistake going into the first of 16 corners of the 5.137 km long circuit, which allowed Maini as well as a chasing Chittesh Mandody through.

Mandody finished just 0.593 seconds behind Maini who took his second win of the weekend and season.

LGB FORMULA FOUR

Sarosh Hataria of Dark Don Racing completed a clean sweep of the three races of the LGB Formula 4 class by winning the two races today.

The first race, which was also the opening race of the final day of the JK Tyre Racing weekend, was held in wet conditions with a steady drizzle and saw Hataria challenged for the win by teammate Advait Deodhar.

Deodhar led briefly on the final lap before Hataria assumed the lead once again to take the chequered flag by 1.428 seconds. Rayo Racing's Ameya Bafna finished third.

The second race was also won by Hataria with a scrap for second place between Deodhar and Bafna that resulted in Deodhar falling as low as tenth before he recovered to finish fourth.

Bafna took second place, 0.834 seconds behind Hataria with Krishna 1.342 seconds behind the leader in third.

VOLKSWAGEN POLO R CUP

Like Hataria in the LGB Formula 4 class, South Africa's Jeffrey Kruger also swept the three Volkswagen Polo R Cup races of the weekend by winning both races on Sunday to go with his win on Saturday.

Kruger won the first race in the morning ahead of Karthik Tharani with his close rival Rahil Noorani dropping all the way to the rear of the field in 18th place.

Tharani was followed home by Lee Keshav Gupta.

In the second race, Kruger once again stamped his authority on the field, this time finishing ahead of Prashanth Tharani by over 22.468 seconds over the eight lap race.

Yatin Mahu was third while Noorani was able to salvage some points by finishing sixth.

A crowd of 15,000 spectators were present at the circuit according to estimates by Jaypee Sports officials. The crowd peaked just before the start of the afternoon session of the day.

The final two rounds of the JK Tyre Racing Championship is scheduled to be held once again at the Buddh International Circuit on the November 29 to December 1 weekend according to the Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India's calendar of events.
