The 2016 season of the Indian National Rally Championship will commence in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on July 23rd.
The Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) and the Indian Rally Championship (IRC) will get under way from July 23rd for the 2016 season. The championship will see competitors rally in five rounds in the season.
Ramakrishna race Performance Management (RRPM), a Kolkata based organisation are the official promotes of the series, with MRF tyres being the title sponsor. Mahindra Adventure, Polaris and Pincon are the associate sponsors for the event as well. The rally will be officiated by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI).
The 2016 season championship will see the first rally start from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on July 23-24. Round 2 will be held in Nashik, Maharashtra from August 27-28. Gurgaon, Haryana will host round 3 from September 17-18. Followed by Bengaluru, Karnataka from November 26-27. The season will conclude in Chikmangalur, Karnataka from December 3-5.
The 2016 season of the INRC and IRC will see the introduction of a ‘Shakedown’ which will provide some pre-rally testing and practice to all competitors with the rally including both gravel and tarmac rounds. Many acclaimed Indian rally drivers including Gaurav Gill, Amittrajit Ghosh, Sunny Siddhu, Arjun Rao Arror and many more will compete in the championship.
Indian drivers in Indian cars are eligible to race in the INRC category, while Indian drivers or international drivers in foreign cars will able classified in the IRC category. The rally will be held on closed sections of public and private roads which will be disclosed to the competitors for recce.
