Hari Krishnan has claimed his first ever international podium by finishing second in the Asia Road Racing Championship.
The second round of the ARRC was held at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand. The 22-year old rider from Chennai finished 11th in Race 1. In Race 2, Krishnan finished 2nd claiming his first international podium after clocking in a time of 16’52.792s. Krishnan now stands seventh overall in the championship with 32 points.
During Race 2, Krishnan led through the final lap of the race. But at the last corner, left the door open for Japanese rider, Hiroki Nakamura who stole the lead from Krishnan. The Indian rider fought till the end to finish second only a tenth behind Nakamura. Nakamura took his third victory of the season.
Broc Pearson from Australia crossed the finish line in third to claim the final spot on the podium.
Krishnan is the second rider representing India to win a podium in the Asia Dream Cup after S Sarath Kumar who stood on the podium on Qatar in 2014. The Asia Dream Cup is a one make Honda racing series which features 18 riders from nine Asian countries. The riders are a part of Honda’s motorsports development programme who race in Asia Dream Cup category of the ARRC series riding race spec’d CBR250Rs.
Round 5 of the Asia Road Racing Championship will be held at the Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida from September 29 - October 2, 2016.
