Gautam Singhania to represent India after being elected as one of the 14 members of the FIA World Motor Sports Council.
Out of 22 nominees, Gautam Singhania is one of the 14 members who was elected to the FIA World Motor Sports Council (WMSC) at the FIA’s General Assembly in Paris.
Singhania will be representing India and the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). Among the 22 nominees, Singhania received 82 votes to be elected on the council among 13 other representatives from other parts of the world.
Singhania commented, “I am elated and excited to be elected like this. It’s a privilege and honour for me and I will do my best. I thank the members of the FMSCI for their support. I am a driver and an enthusiast so I understand the issues that need to be addressed.
Additionally, President of the FMSCI, Akbar Ebrahim has been named as the Deputy Titular to represent India in the WMSC.
At the FIA’s General Assembly, Jean Todt was also re-elected as the president of the FIA for a third term. Todt will serve another four years till the end of 2021, which will be his final term.
