Sony Pictures Networks India has solidified its commitment to Formula E with a fresh three-year media partnership. Under this renewed agreement, viewers can expect all the exhilarating Formula E races to be showcased live on Sony’s channels and streamed seamlessly on Sony LIV until at least 2027. Despite the unexpected cancellation of the 2024 Hyderabad E-Prix earlier this year, Formula E has reaffirmed India's significance as a pivotal market for the championship. This latest agreement with Sony underscores Formula E's dedication to keeping the Indian audience engaged by ensuring live race broadcasts on television in the foreseeable future.
Aarti Dabas, Chief Media Officer, Formula E, said: "With an enthusiastic, diverse and young sports fanbase, India is an important growth market for us. As such, we are delighted to have teamed up with Sony Sports Network to supercharge this growth. This partnership guarantees that Indian fans will enjoy unparalleled access to Formula E content. This includes live coverage of every race on Sony's linear and digital channels, featuring rookie driver and local favourite Jehan Daruvala and their home-grown team, Mahindra, who have been part of Formula E since the first season.”
Formula E Season 10 and Sony Pictures Networks
Sony Sports Network kicked off its coverage of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship earlier this year with the 2024 Hankook Mexico City E-Prix. Sony Sports Network has scheduled the 2024 Misano E-Prix for Saturday, April 13th, and Sunday, April 14th. Viewers can catch the action live on the Sony Sports Ten 5 and Sony Sports Ten 1 channels, as well as on Sony LIV. Sony Pictures Networks India offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the Formula E championship through the show 'Unplugged'. With Unplugged, you get to know Jehan Daruvala, the only Indian driver competing for Maserati MSG Racing.
Jehan Daruvala, driver of Maserati MSG Racing, said: “I am excited to be pursuing my Formula E racing career, knowing that I have a huge and passionate fanbase following me through Sony Pictures Networks. It is a dream come true to join Maserati MSG Racing, and I am committed to doing my very best for the team, the fans back home, and around the world.”
As a result of this collaboration, Sony Sports Network plans to provide high-quality racing coverage to Indian viewers, including those in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
