In a remarkable demonstration of electric vehicle dominance, the Ford Performance F-150 Lightning SuperTruck claimed victory at the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Driven by Romain Dumas, the truck clocked the fastest time among 61 competitors, conquering ‘America's Mountain’ in an impressive 8:53.553. This is Ford Performance's second consecutive Pikes Peak win with an electric vehicle, following the SuperVan 4.2's victory in 2023. The SuperTruck showcased its prowess even before the race, shattering the open class qualifying record with a time of 3:32.831 – a full seven seconds faster than the previous record set by Ford's own SuperVan 4.2 in 2023.
The race, however, was not without challenges. Dumas encountered a technical issue that caused the truck to stall completely, costing him an estimated 26 seconds compared to his qualifying run. Despite this setback, Dumas remained composed, rebooting the electric beast and continuing his ascent to secure a hard-fought victory.
