Founded by former Japanese Formula 1 driver Aguri Suzuki (left in second picture with Formula E Holdings CEO Alejandro Agag), Super Aguri F1 hung around for just 39 races in motor sport's top tier before folding their operations after only the fourth race of the 2008 season.

Along the way, they sprung a few nasty surprises on the factory Honda F1 team in 2007, for whom they were primarily a 'satellite' team designed to prolong Takuma Sato's F1 career.

The team announced that it will be making a comeback to formula car racing, albeit to F1's all-electric counterpart, the FIA Formula E Championship.

The series is expected to commence in the 2014-15 season on street circuits with major cities like Los Angeles and Buenos Aires serving as venues.

Super Aguri's involvement in the series was the latest to be announced after Indycar squads Andretti Autosport and Dragon Racing and e.dams racing confirming their participation in the championship's inaugural season.

The ten-round championship is set to commence on 20 September, 2014 and conclude on 27 June, 2015.

The Indian city of Mumbai has also been rumored as a possible future venue with talk of an Indian entry as well, fielding a former F1 driver behind the steering wheel.

The Dallara-built cars will be supplied with parts by F1 squads McLaren and Williams F1, with tyres supplied by Michelin.
