At the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Sebastian Vettel will be driving the 1993 McLaren MP4/8 of the late great Ayrton Senna in tribute. It will be a special gesture since Senna lost his life 30 years ago at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994. After the Miami Grand Prix, F1 will head to Imola, where we anticipate more memorials to Senna. Owner of Senna's 1993 McLaren MP4/8 and four-time world champion, Vettel, has announced that he will drive the legendary vehicle on race day in Imola to honour one of his heroes.
Sebastian Vettel said on Instagram: 'Ayrton Senna was not only a driver who I valued highly for being one of the best racing has ever seen, but also a man of great compassion,” said Vettel. “It’s been 30 years since his accident and I would like to pay tribute to Ayrton. I will be in Imola for the Grand Prix to drive his car, the McLaren MP4/8. I hope to see you on Sunday, May 19.'
