The Formula 1 championship resumes its activities following a short break, marking its official return to Qatar, where the first race in the Middle Eastern nation took place in 2021. Significant improvements have been made to the Losail Circuit since F1's last visit, with the intention of increasing the safety of the venue for race fans and the several racing series that use it. With 13 wins and a 10-race winning streak to his name in 2023, the Red Bull star driver Max Verstappen has been nearly unstoppable. This weekend, Verstappen will enter with exactly 400 points, a comfortable lead of 177 over his closest rival, teammate Sergio Pérez. If Verstappen finishes ahead of Pérez by 146 points or more in Qatar, he will be declared the 2023 Drivers' World Champion. There are a maximum of 34 points available because there will soon be a sprint race. No matter what the outcome of his race is, Pérez's F1 title dreams are over if he fails to finish on the podium in Qatar.

F1 Qatar Grand Prix 2023: Interesting Facts About Lusail International Circuit
The Lusail International Circuit was constructed in less than a year in order to host Qatar's first-ever MotoGP race in 2004. It is situated on the outer edges of the capital city of Doha. Qatar hosted the FIA Formula One World Championship for the first time in 2021, and the country extended its hosting rights for another decade beginning in 2023.
The Lusail International Circuit, spanning a distance of 5.4km, has been purposefully developed with a primary focus on motorcycle racing. This circuit has a dynamic layout characterised by a combination of fast-paced and smooth sections, with a significant number of medium- to high-speed bends. The main straight of the track constitutes a significant portion of its overall length, measuring over 1km. This elongated section offers enough opportunity for drivers to execute overtaking manoeuvres as they approach Turn 1.
Several notable examples of circuits capable of hosting both Formula 1 (F1) and MotoGP events are the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar, the Buddh International Circuit in India, the Red Bull Ring in Austria, and the Circuit of the Americas in the United States.
