Red Bull's Max Verstappen extended his dominant 2024 Formula 1 season with a commanding victory at the Qatar Grand Prix. The Dutch driver seized the lead at the start and never looked back, leading every lap of the race. Lando Norris, who had been on track for a strong second-place finish, was handed a 10-second stop-and-go penalty for speeding under yellow flags. This penalty significantly impacted his race, dropping him out of the podium positions. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and McLaren's Oscar Piastri capitalised on Norris' misfortune to complete the podium. Norris' penalty significantly impacted McLaren's Constructors' Championship hopes. Their lead over Ferrari was reduced to a slim 21 points, with only 44 points remaining to be contested in the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
