Max Verstappen showed his strength in the 2024 Miami Grand Prix sprint race by outmanoeuvring Charles Leclerc. Although Leclerc first outpaced Verstappen, the polesitter quickly took the lead going into Turn 1. Sergio Perez's attempts to pursue Leclerc, however, let Daniel Ricciardo move up to third. Sadly, Hamilton's late braking caused Lando Norris' race to end suddenly on the outside of Turn 1, causing Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll to collide.
Though Perez lost position to Ricciardo on the first lap, he showed competence and patience to finish in third place. In turn, Ricciardo showed exceptional defensive skills against Carlos Sainz to finish fourth and achieve VCARB's best finish of the season.

Fifth-placed Sainz beat Oscar Piastri, the lone survivor of McLaren. Benefiting from an incident involving an extremely aggressive Kevin Magnussen, who was penalised three times for his interactions with Hamilton, Nico Hulkenberg won important points for Haas. Hamilton finished seventh on track, but his post-race penalty dropped him to sixteenth, allowing Yuki Tsunoda to take eighth and guaranteeing points for both Red Bull Racing cars.
