Carlos Sainz of Ferrari secured a historic victory at the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday, marking the Scuderia's first win in Mexico City since 1990. Norris secured a strong second-place finish, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc completed the podium and set the fastest lap. Red Bull's Max Verstappen, the championship leader, faced a challenging race. Aggressive driving against McLaren's Lando Norris led to two penalties, ultimately relegating him to sixth place. This setback reduced Verstappen's championship lead to 47 points with four races remaining. Verstappen's penalties stemmed from incidents where he forced Norris off the track. The stewards' decision to penalise him twice underscores the increasing scrutiny on his aggressive driving style.
